Dog daycare has become one of the fastest-growing small-business models in the United States. A dog daycare facility is a supervised indoor/outdoor “dog park,” where a group of pre-screened, friendly dogs interact and play throughout the day. Dog daycare provides stimulation, exercise, and socialization for dogs that might otherwise be left home alone.
While at daycare, dogs socialize with many other dogs, as well as with human care providers. We provide consistent, loving supervision while our “customers” wrestle, play ball, engage in a tug-o-war, run around both indoors and out, or catch a snooze on one of the available couches, pillows, or laps. GENERAL INFORMATION
Facilities: This newly-remodeled, 5,000 SQFT indoor/outdoor facility is located conveniently on one of Seattle’s busiest north-south commuter thoroughfares. It has been conservatively estimated that more than 60,000 cars per day pass the site, which includes off-street parking for both staff and customers. The business also has the option to use the upper half of a large, fluorescent sign that offers excellent exposure to both north- and southbound traffic. The spacious lobby has an abundance of natural light, and includes a formal reception counter, private office, and staff lounge. The dog playroom is separated from the lobby by a solid wall with a large viewing window. There is all-new rubber flooring and three chain-link “time-out” kennels. The playroom also includes a variety of toys, gym equipment, beds, and couches that the dogs enjoy every day. The outdoor area is approximately 2,000 SQFT, and it is enclosed by a brand-new custom-built 8’ security fence. There is also a dedicated grass “elimination area” for the dogs to use.
MARKET OUTLOOK
Competition: In the Seattle area, there are currently 8 established dog daycare centers and 1 new entry, with varying levels of volume and service offerings. Overall, the dog daycare community in Seattle is very supportive, and competition is not heated; on the contrary, we all work together to refer customers to each other and keep up-to-date on each other’s businesses.
Growth/Expansion: The facility offers a tremendous amount of opportunity
for expansion of products/services. With the newly renovated building, the
business can easily accommodate more than double its current volume of daycare
customers. There is also ample space in the lobby in which a retail offering
